Engine plugins
Editor plugins for Unity, Unreal Engine and Godot pull your selected takes straight into the game project. They compare checksums with the files already in your project and download only the ones that changed.
| Unity | Unreal Engine | Godot | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine version | 2022.3+ | 5.3+ | 4.2+ |
| Sync changed takes | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Edit script, cast, render, review in the editor | ✓ Voice Studio window | ✓ Acteme screen | |
| Runtime playback by line key | ✓ ActemeVoicePlayer | Use imported SoundWaves | ✓ ActemeVoicePlayer |
| Where the API key lives | EditorPrefs | ACTEME_API_KEY environment variable | Editor settings folder (acteme.cfg) |
API keys are never written into project files, so you can commit your project settings without leaking them. Each teammate uses their own key.
Which scopes to give the key
| Use | Scopes |
|---|---|
| Sync only (any engine, build machines) | read |
| Unity Voice Studio or Godot Acteme screen: edit lines, cast and review | read, write |
| Also render and translate from the editor | add generate |
Create keys on the studio's Developer page, which also shows the API URL and each project's id. See API keys.
Where files land
Files go under the plugin's output folder at the path from your project's file template. With the default {scene}/{locale}/{key}, a Unity project gets:
Assets/Audio/VO/gate_ambush/en-US/varga_wounded_01.wav
Assets/Audio/VO/gate_ambush/de-DE/varga_wounded_01.wavChoose an output format your engine imports. WAV works everywhere. OGG works in Unity and Godot. FLAC is best kept for archival exports.
